Vw Camper Van Soda Blasting :
Meet Pablo – one of our latest Classic VW Camper Option 1 Builds. Whilst he’s still far from complete, we wanted to show you just one part of our extensive 3-2-1 Option programme: Soda Blasting.
Bare Metal Vw Camper Van Soda Blasting is standard on all our Campervans within our Option programmes. We strip the campers down to their bare bones before getting to work on the respray. Soda Blasting comes first, followed by the equally important Etch Priming of the entire shell. This comes before completing a minimum three-coat paint job to give superior colour depth.
What is Soda Blasting?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, here’s a brief explanation:
“Soda blasting is a non-destructive method for many applications in cleaning, paint stripping, automotive restoration, industrial equipment maintenance, rust removal, molecular steel passivation against rust and oil removal by saponification and translocation. It’s incredibly effective for mold and fire/smoke damage cleanup as it cleans and deodorises the surface.”
To carry out the work, we use a Vw Camper Van Soda Blasting Specialist – a self-contained system which uses formulated sodium bicarbonate (also known as baking soda). It has micro fragmentation on impact. literally exploding away surface materials without damage to the shell.
Now the technical bit’s out of the way, here are some shots of Pablo before and after his soda blasting:
