VW Camper Van Hire Scotland | Touring Scotland in a VW Camper
You’ve seen them on the telly, celebrities are buying them up, there’s even one parked in your street. But what’s all this fuss about VW camper vans? At this point we could go on and on (we often lament about the sense of freedom VW camper ownership brings) but the short answer is there is no right answer as VW campers bring different things to different people.
In the 8 years or so Morecambe and Wize have been trading we’ve heard a few different stories, but we think there is no better way to find out about something than to experience it for yourself. That’s we call our camper hire service a ‘try before you buy’ service as so many people go on to purchase an Option Campervan with us after their hire period. Further more is that for those who placed a deposit with six weeks of their hire period we refunded the cost of their hire; a thank you if you like for choosing Morecambe and Wize Sales Ltd.
We like to get out and about as much as you do and this month we are taking the time to look at VW Camper Hire Scotland with our short article ‘Touring Scotland in a VW Camper’ These articles are by no means exhaustive, and should be seen as more of a pointer to get you on your way by means of wetting your appetite for exploration! So without further a do, lets get on!

Scotland is a diverse and extraordinary country, with a rich and fascinating history. The country has nearly 800 islands, only 300 of which are inhabited, and these islands are home to some of the most beautiful landscape in the world. Tourism is one of Scotland’s most lucrative assets, focusing on such attractions as golf, walking and a rich history. In industry, too, the country is pioneering and enterprising. Key business sectors include life sciences, electronic technologies, energy and financial services. Scotland is still having it’s boom in the Northern oil cities with house prices continuing to rise.
Scottish people are a proud lot and it’s diverse and exciting history is reflected in many of its attractions. Edinburgh Castle , which dominates the city’s Old Town is a must-see. A visit to the Heart of Neolithic Orkney (a UNESCO World Heritage Site ) is an unforgettable experience, as is a trip to any of Scotland’s fantastic Whisky distilleries. And of course, you can’t visit Scotland without trying to find Nessie at Loch Ness.
Scotland is also a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts so don’t forget to pack your adventure gear into your camper. Adrenaline-junkies can hurtle down the rapids in Perthshire, test their nerves climbing ice falls in Glencoe and trek through dramatic glens along the spectacular West Highland Way. More info on the adventure activities within the Cairngorm national park can be found here. There are plenty of campsites and beauty spots to park up your camper for the night.
When it comes to shopping, Scotland’s cities really shine. If you want to shop for bargains on the high street, head to Murraygate in Dundee. But if you’ve got a bit more cash to splash on designer labels, Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh ‘s city center is the place for you. Or if you’re hunting for one-off vintage finds, Glasgow ‘s West End is a haven for vintage shoppers. Beyond the cities, Scotland’s charming abbey towns, coastal villages and remote, Gaelic-speaking Highland communities entice visitors with their picturesque buildings, scenic walks and warm welcomes. Many also host eccentric festivals; from porridge-making championships to the traditional Highland Games (complete with caber tossing and hammer throwing).
Scotland boasts a number of VW clubs and car show events. Get in touch with VW Scot Club to find out if there are any meets or shows going on during your visit. Fellow dubbers stick together and there’s nothing better than cruising the highland roads in a camper convoy.
