It is important to look after your VW Campervan. Even the most basic of exterior and interior cleaning can make a huge difference to the life of your vehicle. You don’t have to be a mechanic to perform these tasks, but getting into the habit after you have been out on the road or on a long trip away, you will find that it doesnt take long to become an expert at looking after the bodywork.
Here are a few simple points:
Make sure that the main bodywork is kept clean. It is a fairly obvious one, but wash down with clean water and a hose to take off any debris and things that might scratch the paintwork.
Use a good quality detergent and sponge and work from top to bottom.
Dry down using a chamois which helps to prevent streaking. You can then use a polish and soft cloth.
If you notice any scratches its important that you retouch these before any rust starts to get in.
You will need to pay special attention to the chrome and polish well to make sure rust spots don’t appear.
It is advisable to treat the whole of the underbody of the camper once a year with a good rust proofer.
It is a good idea to use a vinyl cleaner for the seats or a foam cleaner if they are made of cloth.
Around the plastic trims a damp cloth and a polish with a lot of silicone will help to bring out the shine.
